Why has the fee for cheerleaders increased?

Do to cost of product, we have had to increase our price. We are doing our best to keep the cost as affordable as we can.

Why do we have to return the uniform?

The cost of purchasing uniforms has significantly gone up. If we were to purchase every year, we would have to increase our price even more. This is a more efficient option to keep the organization running smoothly. We use varsity uniforms that are made of recycled material. Varsity has put a lot of technology into making their uniforms: they are stain resistant, odor resistant, and extremely durable. Plus it is better for the environment :)

Why do we have to purchase our own shoes?

This way you can make sure your child has a shoe that fits them properly with the most comfortable options for your child. We have also had children be able to wear the same size shoe for multiple years so this way your child can keep the shoes that fit them and not have several pairs of cheer shoes.

What all comes with the cheer package?

The package will include:

You will have the option to purchase more gear through our varsity representative.

What is competiton?

Competition is something that WNCYF ( Western North Carolina Youth Football) puts on for all the cheer squads to show what they have been working on that season. Every squad will go, however only our (7-8), (9-10), and (11-12) teams will be judged. Your Cheer Director will have a copy of the score sheet and requirements for each squad if you'd like to see it.

5/6 will also go to competition, however they will only do a sideline cheer and will not be judged. This is to prepare them for when they are old enough to compete and be judged.

All squads will go to competition. It is a requirement for cheerleaders to attend.

Why is my 9/10 or 11/12 cheerleader responsible for learning the basic cheers on her own?

Our program is designed to prepare the cheerleaders for the next step. As they get older it will become their responsibility to learn cheers. During camp week and the first few practices we will be going over our basic cheers so your cheerleader will receive in person help. There will also be a video provided for your cheerleader to watch at home. This will allow more time at practice to go over more advanced skills (stunting, tumbling, and dances.)

Why do I need to particapate in the 50/50 raffle?

This is the easiest fundraiser for us. We want parents with our girls to not only keep them safe but to manage the money. You will not be scheduled during your child's game, and if you have a football player please let your Coach or Cheer Director know so we can work around your other children.

Questions about Birth Certificates, physicals, waivers?

Please see our main FAQ page.

I have a cheerleader and football player, but they aren't the same age. Can they cheer or play with the other?

If your cheerleader is younger than your football player we can always allow her to cheer with an older squad. She will still be registered with her age group and would need to learn the competition routine that her age group is doing. Most cheers and chants have the same moves but the older age groups do have more cheers and chants that involve more advanced movements.  If your cheerleader is older than your football player, then depending on the age gap, we can allow your cheerleader to cheer with the younger squad. However, if the age gap is too large, then we will keep the cheerleader with her age group.
